Weber Shop Feature: Advent Reflection Books

Savor the moments leading up to Christmas by enjoying daily Advent reflections. Advent begins December 3, 2023, and the Weber Center Shop is featuring several Advent reflection books to foster a more meaningful and joy-filled holiday season.

A Time for Holy Listening is an inspirational Advent book by Janet Schaeffler, OP, a retreat leader and a consultant for catechists and adult faith formation leaders. Sister Janet lists the Scripture readings for each day, along with a reflection, a suggested daily practice, and a short Advent prayer – all tied to the day’s readings. Pick up copies for your whole family at $1.49 each.

Popular author Richard Rohr, OFM, leads us to a mature and insightful understanding of Christmas in his reflection book, Preparing for Christmas. These daily reflections offer the promise of transformation by “making your entire life, and the life of the church, one huge advent.” Purchase this paperback for $12.99.

Author Dandi Daley MacKall invites us to spend the 40 days of Advent, Christmas, and Epiphany with Three Wise Women:  Mary the mother of Jesus, Elizabeth the mother of John the Baptist, and Anna the prophetess at the temple in Jerusalem. These three women provide important perspectives and deep insight for this season and beyond. This book is ideal to share with a women’s faith group or bible study group. Copies of this hardcover are available for $18.99 each.

Finally, the Weber Center Shop also carries copies of the wonderful “Little Blue Book” for Advent, a tradition begun by the late Bishop Ken Untener of the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw, Michigan. The Little Blue Book guides you through this joyful season with short devotionals that will inspire you. Bishop Untener’s goal, which still lives on, is to encourage people to pray for six minutes a day during the liturgical seasons.
