A Family’s Story of their Transgender Child
This month the Weber Shop is featuring the book Becoming Nicole: The Extraordinary Transformation of an Ordinary Family by Amy Ellis Nutt.
This is the inspiring true story of an ordinary American couple who adopted twin boys and began an incredible journey to understand, accept, and embrace one child as a transgender girl. It chronicles the family’s internal resistance, fear, and struggle as well as the ostracism and prejudice of the schools and local community. This story will challenge preconceptions we may have about transgender individuals and show how this family grew to celebrate the uniqueness in us all.
We invite you to join in the Weber Center’s “Dine and Discuss” event on Wednesday, November 9, 5:30-7:30 p.m. ET, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy dinner and a thoughtful discussion of this book. Register at this link or by phone at 517-266-4000 to join in this event. Registration is $15.00 and includes a copy of the book and dinner. Registered individuals can pick up copies of their book now at the Weber Center Shop or the front desk of Weber Center. At the Dine and Discuss event, all guests will be screened for COVID-19 and are required to wear masks when not eating.
If you can’t join us for the Dine and Discuss event, you can purchase the book by itself through the Weber Shop for $18.00. Contact the shop at 517-266-4035 or webershop@adriandominicans.org to reserve your copy.
